UV radiation endangers the integrity of the eyes:

  • Sun protection is increasingly necessary as a result of the protective effect of decreasing the ozone layer and more frequent leisure activities and sports practiced outdoors.
  • Eyes react sensitively increasingly to ultraviolet (UV = ultraviolet). This radiation is part of the sunlight that the human eye perceives. Ultraviolet radiation can permanently damage the cornea and retina. The eyes are more vulnerable in places near water and snow, as not only are exposed to direct radiation but also reflected by the surface of snow or water. Excessive exposure to sunlight can cause irritation of the cornea and conjunctive, cataracts or even retinal damage.

UV protection of the glasses is not related to the color of the crystals. Some crystals with a very dark hue may lack any UV protection. In sunglasses without UV protection, the effect is doubly dangerous. Dark glasses serve to enter a smaller amount of light. This causes the pupils to dilate, so if the glasses do not have UV protection dilation of the pupils who will enter the eye a high amount of radiation. The damage can be permanent view.

Protection against glare depends exclusively on the glass tonality. How darker the glass is least amount of light that will happen. The rate of solar protection glasses is classified into five categories, from 0 to 4. The category 0 (these crystals absorb up to 20% of visible light) indicates the minimum protection, while category 4 (with light blocking 92% to 97%) indicates the maximum protection against glare. We recommend a universal filter category 2 (with a level of absorption between 57% and 82%) for the average level of solar radiation in Europe. On the beach or in the mountains is recommended glasses with a protection level 3 (absorption of 82% to 91%).

People with good vision should wear sunglasses in normal light to drive. It is recommended to drive with colored glasses that respect the natural color of things in order to easily recognize the signs and warning lights. The bright yellow enhance contrast in low light and are also suitable for night driving. Those suffering from refractive error, and therefore need regular glasses, they should also wear sunglasses while driving.

Sunlight is transmitted in space vibrating in many different planes.
